Michigan Wolverines have not had a receiver hit 1,000 yards in a season since 2013. Wide receiver Andrew Marsh has a real shot at ending that drought in 2026.

Maize n Brew made the case on Monday, July 20. Marsh led Michigan in catches, yards and touchdowns as a true freshman in 2025. 45 catches. 651 yards. Four scores. And he barely played the first four weeks.

"I really feel like we’re going to be dangerous this year. And really just the ability to come out and show what we can do on the ground and in the air, it’s going to be crazy.” Marsh said to The Michigan Daily.

The last Michigan receiver to hit 1,000 yards was Jeremy Gallon in 2013. Gallon finished that season with 1,373 yards and nine touchdowns, still the program record. But Maize n Brew's Charles Post sees Marsh breaking it.

"Andrew Marsh is primed to end the drought in 2026," he wrote. "Coming off a record-setting freshman season, Marsh is expected to be the top receiving target for Michigan this season, and his explosiveness gives him a legitimate chance to record 1,000 receiving yards."

Gallon also set the Big Ten single-game record that year with 369 yards on 14 catches against Indiana, the second-most in FBS history. Nobody has come close since 2013 either.

Ronnie Bell led the team with 889 yards in 2022. Roman Wilson led with 789 in 2023. Both fell well short.

Maize n Brew projects Marsh at 60 catches, 850 yards and seven touchdowns on the low end for 2026. But the analyst also expects him to exceed those expectations. After all, Marsh showed potential breaking Michigan's single-game freshman receiving record last season. Twelve catches, 189 yards, in one game.

Marsh and quarterback Bryce Underwood's bond goes back to Underwood's recruitment to Michigan, a process Marsh was personally part of, which brought the two close before either had played a single college snap.

Getting to 1,000 yards requires his connection with Underwood to grow and for Jason Beck's offense to give him consistent volume week to week.

What makes analysts see potential in Marsh?

Gallon's 1,373-yard season came under quarterback Devin Gardner and remains the single most prolific receiving campaign in Michigan history.

Only ten receivers in Michigan program history have ever reached 1,000 yards in a season, per Maize n Brew. That list includes Braylon Edwards, Mario Manningham, and David Terrell. But Marsh has shown potential to end the drought last season in Ann Arbor.

SI analyst Trent Knoop ranked Marsh at No.4 in his list of 'Top 10 Michigan Football Players Based on PFF Grade.' His 78.1 receiving grade was the highest on the roster, finishing nine points clear of his teammates.

"Due to his explosive speed, elite catch radius and technical route running, Marsh has every component to become the next great wide receiver at Michigan," wrote Post. "His impressive vertical leap combined with his excellent balance and strong hands allow the 6-foot, 190-pounder to routinely make contested catches."

If Marsh gets there, he joins one of the most exclusive clubs in Michigan football history.
