Deion Sanders' Son Used Coach Prime's Sickness to Escape Police
Deion Sanders' eldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., aka Bucky, is the Colorado head coach's right-hand man. Being close to his dad, Deion Jr. went through a tough time when Coach Prime was battling health issues. Days later, the Well Off Media tycoon recalled how, during that phase, he escaped the police.
“When I was on the way back from the hospital one day, my dad was staying in the hospital,” said Deion Jr. on the April 6th episode of Well Off Media, when talking about how that parking lot is familiar to him. "I was coming back. I was speeding, or I crossed lanes without the blinker on. Police pulled me over.”
He further added, “They knew who I was. I was like, ‘Yeah, man. My dad is in the hospital. You can’t tell nobody. He is going through something.’ So I used Coach Prime’s sickness to get out of the situation.”

Deion Jr. did not mention the timeline when the incident took place. However, since he requested the police to maintain secrecy about Deion being admitted to the hospital, he might be referring to the phase when Coach Prime secretly battled bladder cancer in April last year.
Back then, Deion did not want to see anyone and only allowed his kids. It was indeed a tough time, since he lost 20 to 25 pounds. Even though Deion Jr. caught a lucky break, he was anxious about the hospital news going public.
What Did Deion Sanders Say About Deion Sanders Jr.?
Last year was very crucial for Deion's sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, who made their debut in the NFL. It was during the same time that Coach Prime got diagnosed with cancer, but Shedeur and Shilo were not informed.
On 28th July 2025, SportsCenter posted a clip of Deion’s press conference, and Coach Prime shared how it was Deion Jr. who knew about it and stood by his side.
“Much love to my son Junior, who had not left my side since we found out what was taking place,” said Coach Prime. “He’s been with me everywhere, every day, and I’ve seen his handsome face, and I love to life, son, and thank you for everything you bring to the table.”
Having his son by his side, Deion Sanders fought the battle, underwent surgery, and is now cured of bladder cancer.
