Diego Pavia Signs 3-YR Deal With AFC Franchise After NFL Draft Snub: Report
Another twist in the tale for the former Vanderbilt Commodore quarterback, Diego Pavia. The Heisman Trophy runner-up is headed to Baltimore, Maryland.
For one of college football’s most polarizing figures, Pavia was not one of the 257 names called at the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh. However, the Baltimore Ravens, an AFC franchise, signed him before his scheduled tryout.
“Ravens are signing former Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia to a three-year deal, per source. Pavia was supposed to try out this weekend, but the Ravens signed him in advance,” ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported Tuesday.
Pavia, known as a dual-threat quarterback, will have the chance to develop under Lamar Jackson, the former two-time MVP who is also known for his dual-threat ability.
Pavia will also have the chance to work under Tyler “Snoop” Huntley, also known as a dual-threat QB and someone who served as a valuable backup for Jackson.
Diego Pavia is the first Heisman trophy finalist to go undrafted for more than a decade after Jordan Lynch.
Despite off-field controversies that likely factored into his draft-day slide, Pavia now gets the opportunity he needed. The Vanderbilt Commodore QB now has a second chance to prove himself at the pro level.
Pavia has spent two seasons with New Mexico State and then two years with Vanderbilt. The signal-caller has over 10,255 passing yards in four years of his collegiate career.
In the 2025 season, Pavia led the SEC in completion rate of 70.6 and touchdowns at 29.
For Diego Pavia, it will be a step up in competition as the Ravens have signed another quarterback to go along with Jackson, Huntley and Pavia.
Baltimore Adds a Second Undrafted QB to the Depth Chart
Initially, as per reports, the Ravens were looking to add a developmental No.3 QB as they did not add a quarterback in the draft.
The two names that were thrown into the hat were Diego Pavia and the Connecticut Huskies Joe Fagnano.
Both players were invited to the rookie minicamp that is scheduled to take place this weekend.
Joe Fagnano has also penned a three-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
Fagnano spent the last three seasons at UConn; before that, he played at Maine.
For the UConn QB, his best season came in 2025, when he threw for 3,448 yards and 28 touchdowns with just one interception.
Pavia joins Fagnano and the two veteran quarterbacks in Baltimore for the 2026 NFL season.
