Ex-Wolverine Rips Into Lamar Jackson with Bold Josh Allen Claim
Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen are formidable players who have dominated the NFL in their own right. Comparing the AFC rivals is the spirit of the game, but a former Michigan star picked his favorite, with a controversial take on the other.
Linebacker Frank Clark showed up in the comments section of a podcast episode comparing both Allen and Jackson. His comment will have some fans up in arms.
"Never had a problem with Josh Allen," he wrote. "Me speaking personally. Always had a problem with Lamar. Convo over.”
The Seattle Seahawks linebacker has fueled a debate started by Charles Omenihu on the Speakeasy podcast. While talking with host Immanuel Acho, Omenihu raved about Allen, the Buffalo Bills’ QB.
“You bring a five-man rush on him and collapse that pocket. He's drifting backwards. And unfortunately, he might make a play that isn't going to be the best play for the Ravens,” Charles said about Jackson.
“With Josh, he gonna drift backwards, run around and he's one," the DE said about Allen. "He's so hard to tackle. His arm strength is unbelievable. I don't think Lamar has that big amount of arm strength, like how Josh does.”
Clark has seen more of Allen than Jackson in his career. The Bills are one of the Chiefs' biggest rivals, so getting to Allen meant big. But why he has a problem with Lamar Jackson is not clear. Clark has faced both QBs during his active years in the NFL, but only a few times.
Interestingly, the Lamar Jackson-led Ravens launched a 37-3 brutal drubbing on the Seahawks, in which Frank Clark was on the losing side.
Even though the QB has been a two-time NFL MVP, he still surprisingly has a lot of skeptics. He has thrown 187 passing touchdowns for 22,608 passing yards. The 29-year-old has a 3-5 playoff record in his career. Lamar is a dual-threat QB who can pass and rush equally well.
Many doubt Jackson because he has yet to see the kind of postseason success that comes with these numbers. He's been with the Ravens for eight years now. But on the other hand, Josh Allen is also 3-5 when it comes to the playoffs. But he doesn't quite have this many people doubting him.
Lamar Jackson may not have impressed Frank Clark, but a fellow Raven sure did come in support of his QB.
A Teammate Backs Jackson And Calls Out Charles Omenihu’s Take
And after Charles’ view on the players, both a part of the 2018 QB class, surfaces, Ravens’ Marlon Humphrey came to Jackson’s defense.
“How to get clout 101. Mention Lamar Jackson,” he replied on X.
Jackson is one of the most polarizing figures in the NFL. Yes, he should have been taken to Baltimore to the final prize, being a first-round pick out of the 2018 draft. But he hasn't exactly been a downer either. Jackson still is one of the most notable signal callers in the league.
Allen and Jackson, however, have always shown each other great respect. The Bills’ QB even said that Jackson “throws it as good as anybody in the league.”
Frank did not list the reasons as to why he has problems with Jackson, and until he does, we wouldn't know what to make of his take.
What is your opinion of Jackson? Let us know in the comments.
