Fans deserve more from the Wolverines on findings about Sherrone Moore case, per report
Michigan Wolverines fans are still waiting for answers in the Sherrone Moore case as questions remain over what the school’s investigation uncovered. A report has raised concerns about Michigan’s decision to keep the findings private.
Staff writer Austin Meek of The Athletic reported that Michigan has completed the Jenner & Block investigation into Sherrone Moore and the athletic department, but the findings have not been released publicly.
"Expecting fans to accept the conclusions without seeing the work demands a level of trust that Michigan hasn’t earned. Michigan owes it to everyone, including Manuel, to be transparent about what the investigation found," Meek wrote.
President Domenico Grasso said university leaders are still deciding whether to make the report available.

The controversy started in December 2025 when Michigan staff member Paige Shiver disclosed her relationship with then-head coach Sherrone Moore, leading to a review of the situation.
The Jenner & Block review focused on Moore’s relationship with Paige Shiver and also examined the culture within Michigan’s athletic department. The relationship reportedly started in 2022, when Moore was an assistant coach, and Shiver was an intern.
Furthermore, the report raised questions about Athletic Director Warde Manuel’s oversight after The Wall Street Journal reported that he instructed Moore not to travel with Shiver in August 2024.
According to Meek, Michigan would have to release the reports to move on from this incident.
"There’s one way to do it: Release the Jenner & Block findings with minimal redactions. Make a decision about Manuel’s future and stand behind it. Rip off the Band-Aid and let new football coach Kyle Whittingham coach his first season without the steady drip of negative headlines about the previous regime," Austin Meek of the Athletic wrote.
Michigan spent roughly $12 million on external investigations, increasing pressure on the program to provide clarity. Fans are still waiting for answers about what the review found.
The investigation has also brought attention to Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel’s future with the program.
Warde Manuel speaks on job status and Jenner & Block report
Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel addressed questions about his future with the Wolverines during an exclusive interview with Sam Webb on The Michigan Insider.
“I have not seen the report,” Manuel said. “And I’ll leave it up to the president to determine whenever he’ll release whatever he’ll release about the Jenner & Block report.”
Meanwhile, Manuel admitted that discussions about his future have taken place over the last several months but said those talks have not affected his work with the program. His job status is expected to be a topic during the University of Michigan Board of Regents meeting.
The 58-year-old has faced increased pressure following recent issues surrounding Michigan athletics, including the circumstances around Moore’s firing and the 2023 sign-stealing scandal.
Manuel also addressed the investigation into Michigan’s athletic department, which was launched before the school fired former head coach Sherrone Moore in December 2025.
