Former Michigan star’s brother keeps door open for Wolverines recruitment

Michigan Wolverines haven't offered Carson Graham yet, but the younger brother of former Wolverines Mason Graham isn't ruling out Ann Arbor. The Class of 2028 defensive lineman says Michigan remains one of the programs he is hoping to hear from.

"I'm not leaning one way or the other yet," Carson told Rivals' Brandon Huffman. "I'm just getting ready for the season. Hoping to have a great year and hopefully some other opportunities come."

According to Jamie Terbrack of Maize N Brew, Carson is ready to "follow in his brother’s footsteps" if Michigan comes calling. That leaves the door open for Michigan if the Wolverines decide to offer.

The defensive lineman has only visited Hawaii because of its location. He also showed interest in UCLA and made a stop at Washington during camp season.

Carson is the No. 707 overall prospect and No. 69 defensive lineman in the Rivals Industry Rankings. He already holds offers from USC, Hawaii, and San Diego State, though Michigan has yet to enter the race, as reported by Jamie Terbrack of Maize N Brew.

His family already has strong ties to Ann Arbor. Mason emerged as one of Michigan's top defenders during the Wolverines' national championship season. Then he developed into one of the program's top NFL prospects in recent years.

A strong season could lead to more Power Four offers for Carson and put Michigan's staff in a stronger position to stay in the mix.

Before turning its full attention to the 2028 class, Michigan still has plenty to finish in the current recruiting cycle.

Michigan also pushing for top 2028 running back targets

The Wolverines continue building relationships with several other highly regarded 2028 prospects.

Ohio athlete Cartae Ligon and Florida running back Xander Edwards.

Ligon, who ranks as the No. 159 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings. He told Rivals' Allen Trieu that Michigan remains one of the schools he wants to visit this fall.

"I have been building a great relationship with coach Tony Alford at Michigan," Ligon said.

Michigan is also in the mix for Edwards, one of the nation's top running backs, after offering him last month.

The Jacksonville native told On3's Ethan McDowell that he's already planning a game-day visit to Ann Arbor.

"I love coach Alford already," Edwards said. "We've been talking quite a bit recently, and I'm excited to build a relationship, and I'm definitely going to be up at a game this fall."

As the Wolverines continue building their 2028 roster, they'll hope those early relationships eventually turn into commitments.
