"It Ain’t for You": Deion Sanders Drops Cryptic Text After Son Gives Up on NFL
It’s been nine months since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut Shilo Sanders. Since then, the former Colorado safety has continued working out, though he recently admitted that life away from football has started to feel different.
Speaking about his current mindset, Sanders said he no longer sees the “light at the end of the tunnel." As a response to this, his father, Deion Sanders, shared a post on X.
"Let go baby! Get up, Get out your feeling. It is what it is. It ain't for you & that's a good thing. Now call your huddle, Call your play & go execute it as best as possible because you have the game of life to win! Folks are counting on you! #COACHPRIME," shared Deion on his X handle.
Sanders also admitted that he has stepped away from the intense day-to-day preparation needed to stay ready for an NFL roster spot, saying his workouts no longer carry the same structure they once did.
“I just be like working out like just as a human, but training and stuff, like getting ready, and you have a set day, like camp starts, like a whole different type of training.”
Sanders got his first and only NFL contract in May 2025, signing a three-year, $2.96 million deal with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. But his time with the team did not last long.
In August 2025, Tampa Bay waived him after he was fined for an altercation during its final preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.
In late September 2025, Sanders also worked out with the San Francisco 49ers, who were looking at ways to improve their secondary depth. The session drew attention but did not lead to a contract offer.
Shilo Sanders Reflects on Setbacks
As the older son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, Shilo spent years in the spotlight from Jackson State to Colorado. His younger brother, QB Shedeur Sanders, was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2025.
Earlier in May, before his recent comments about no longer seeing the “light at the end of the tunnel,” Sanders had also spoken about still waiting for another NFL opportunity. Speaking on a Twitch stream on May 19, he said, “I’m not done with football, I just haven’t got picked up yet. I’m just waiting for the chance.”
Before entering the NFL, Shilo built a reputation as a solid defensive back at Jackson State and later at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Across four college seasons, he appeared in 34 games and recorded 170 total tackles, including 123 solo tackles, along with 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and six pass deflections.
Deion Sanders also praised the way his son handled constant changes during his college career. Speaking in 2024, he said, “He never complains. He doesn’t point the finger. And he’s had four different coordinators in four years.”
