Kyle Whittingham Attempts to Woo 4-star QB After Massive Heartbreak

The Michigan Wolverines and Kyle Whittingham are in shambles, with one of the most important positions on the football field, the quarterback position, still without a sure-shot placeholder.
Whittingham and staff are working around the clock to secure the No.4 QB in the 2028 class.
This comes after the heartbreak Whittingham and staff received when the 4-star quarterback Peter Bourque decommitted from the Wolverines. Bourque initially committed to the Wolverines when Sherrone Moore was the head coach.
Since the Wolverines dismissed Moore as head coach, Bourque is now reconsidering his commitment.
“I’m keeping my options kind of open, hearing everything from everyone,” Bourque said. “I’ve been hearing a lot from Penn State, Missouri, Virginia Tech, a little bit from Georgia as well.”
As it stands, the talented QB will not play at The Big House in Michigan, and Kyle Whittingham and staff are looking to secure the No. 4 QB in the 2028 class, Neimann Lawrence.
Lawrence is on an unofficial visit to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. According to Brice Marich, the Florida native, he has over 30 offers in his recruitment.
The quarterback took to social media and posted a picture on his Instagram story while adding the location “University of Michigan.”
According to On3’s website, the University of Miami is the current favorite to land the in-state prospect at 39%, while Michigan’s fierce rivals, the Ohio State Buckeyes, are second at 21.6%.
Apart from Lawrence, are Whittingham and staff looking at another QB for 2027?
Kyle Whittingham and Staff Might Flip Top 2027 QB
After Peter Borque backed off his pledge to the Wolverines, Neimann Lawrence was one to look out for the future.
Kyle Whittingham and staff are looking at a player from his previous State.
Four-star quarterback Kamden Lopati, 2027 West Valley City (Utah), has pledged his commitment to the University of Illinois, but that could change after the quarterback has a visit to Ann Arbor.
Lopati is the No.2 player out of Utah and is ESPN’s top quarterback. Kyle Whittngham coached in Utah for two decades and is now looking at a player from his old stomping ground.
Whittingham and the Wolverines have made a strong impression on the QB, leaving rival insiders Steve Wiltfong and Adam Gorney to put in predictions that the QB would flip his commitment to Ann Arbor.
Where do you think Kamden Lopati plays his football in 2027? Let us know in the comments!
