Legendary Michigan QB Tom Brady Snubbed at 2026 Sports Emmy Awards

The 47th Sports Emmy Awards concluded on May 27, with a shock for Tom Brady and his fanbase. The former football legend, who is now an analyst, got a first-time nomination but didn't win the Sports Emmy Award, as reported by NBC.

It was his colleague, Greg Olsen, the No. 2 NFL analyst at Fox, who ultimately clinched it. The award in question was for Outstanding Personality/Event Analyst. Last year, in fact, Olsen made it as a nominee but didn't win. The prize finally went to Peyton Manning, another legend.

Brady replaced Olsen as the lead NFL game analyst on Fox beginning with the 2024 NFL season. Brady took over the top spot, shifting Olsen to Fox's No. 2 team with play-by-play announcer Joe Davis.

Olsen has so far won three nominations for his analysis skills. FOX Sports took home nine wins across a variety of prestigious categories from The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The New England Patriots HOF'er found Kevin Burkhardt as his partner on the panel. Olsen, however, admitted to having a healthy rivalry with Tom Brady.

Olsen Enjoys Healthy Rivalry With Brady

Speaking of the dynamic that Greg Olsen shares with Tom Brady, Olsen praised the healthy relationship he shares with him.

Olsen told reporter Marty Smith, "Professionally, no different than I’m sure for him, or for any of us, there is a level of competitiveness that allows any of us to exist in what we do."

Olsen continued by using an example from Hendrick Motorsports, explaining that veteran drivers can support and mentor younger drivers while still not wanting them to win major races like the Coca-Cola 600.

Brady had joined Fox Sports in 2024 after signing a record 10‑year, $375 million deal. He made his debut during a Cowboys vs. Browns game in 2024. He was always there to talk about the big games as well as Super Bowl LIX.

On the other hand, Olsen joined back in 2021 and has seniority over Brady as an analyst. While Olsen may have lagged behind Brady on the field, he holds the edge in the broadcast booth.

Olsen said the whole situation was unusual because Tom Brady had essentially lined things up to play one more NFL season before moving into broadcasting, which resulted in Olsen and his partner Kevin Burkhardt getting elevated from FOX’s No. 2 crew.
