Michigan Eyeing Offensive Depth As Wolverines Set To Host Harper Woods Talent
After the spring game at Ann Arbor, Kyle Whittingham and his coaching staff have only one mission, and that is to secure the No.1 player in the state of Michigan and the No. 2 player in the country.
Dakota Guerrant, the four-star (and borderline five-star) prospect out of Harper Woods, is set to meet with the Michigan Wolverines coaching staff, and their goal is to keep Guerrant in-state at all costs.
The Michigan Wolverines will try hard to receive a pledge from Guerrant, and the talented wide receiver has logged nearly 20 unofficial visits to Ann Arbor. This time it is more than just a visit.
Kyle Whittingham and wide receivers coach Micah Simon will show exactly how Guerrant fits into their offense under a new era. Guerrant is yet to make a decision on where he will play football in the fall of 2027.
While the maize and blue are not in the lead to secure Guerrant’s services, the fortune is slowly falling their way. However, as per On’3’s website, Dan Lanning’s Oregon Ducks are the favorites to land the Harper Woods wide receiver.
Apart from Oregon, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan State Spartans, two rivals of the Wolverines, have also made offers to the wide receiver, and Guerrant has visited Columbus 9 times and East Lansing 5 times. The Harper Woods native has also visited Eugene 4 times unofficially, and is scheduled to have an official visit with them on 5th June 2026.
The official visit with Kyle Whittingham and Micah Simon will come after the visit to Eugene on 19th June 2026.
Through his three seasons, Guerrant has had 141 receptions for 2,854 receiving yards and 41 touchdowns to his name. The wide receiver has hinted at where he would likely play his college football in the future.
What Did Guerrant Say About the Michigan Wolverines?
For most schools, keeping their in-state prospects is important, and that is no different for Kyle Whittingham and his staff. For Guerrant, that feeling is mutual.
“Staying home, that’s always what a kid wants,” Guerrant recently told The Wolverine. “They’re definitely recruiting me hard. It’s still Michigan, so they’re a little more up than anybody else.”
Some of his key strengths include vertical acceleration, elite ball skills, and route-running polish. In just his junior season, the wide receiver caught the football 55 times and had 1,074 receiving yards with 26 touchdowns.
Another big reason why the tide could fully turn in Michigan’s favor is Guerrant’s relationship with the current roster, more importantly, his relationship with Bryce Underwood. With these things in mind, Guerrant would fit right in straight away.
Do you think Guerrant would sync well with the Wolverines?
