Michigan Football to Honor Kids From Children's Hospital During Spring Game

Apr 16, 2026, 10:45 AM CUT

With a new head coach, Kyle Whittingham in the throne, the Michigan Wolverines fans eagerly look forward to the Spring Game on April 18. With the countdown started, Michigan Football won the hearts by giving back to the community.

Taking time out of their spring practice, they spent some time at the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital on April 15.

“We really enjoyed our visit to Mott Children and spending quality time with the kids while drawing pictures that will go on shirts we’ll wear at the Spring Game!” the Instagram caption reads.

Michigan football has taken up a “Drawn to Victory” initiative.

"Through this initiative, we highlight the people who inspire us, reminding our team that every play represents more than just football — it represents the lives and communities we’re drawn to serve and uplift," their page talks about their mission.

Whittingham's players worked with “Little Victors” at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital to create artwork for special warm-up shirts. As found in the caption, the players will be proudly donning the shirts on April 18 at Michigan Stadium.

This gesture continues a tradition that celebrates the children’s strength and helps bring attention and support to their care.

Michigan’s defensive lineman Mason Graham and tight end Zack Marshall, among others, spent hours creating the unique apparel alongside the kids. This initiative brings national visibility to children fighting severe medical conditions such as Pediatric cancer, rare genetic disorders.

Why Mott Children's Hospital? It is ranked No.1 in Michigan and among the nation’s best by U.S. News & World Report. Also, the Wolverines have an old connection with them.

After winning the 2024 National Championship, the Wolverines brought the trophy to the hospital to celebrate with the patients.

What to watch for in Michigan Wolverines' 2026 Spring Game

As the Wolverines players will be wearing the shirts in the Spring game, the kids must be looking forward to the grand event on Saturday. But it can be a little different this time.

Whittingham has hinted that many key starters won’t take part. However, the Michigan head coach did not mention any specific name. It sounds like big names such as Bryce Underwood, Andrew Marsh, and Jordan Marshall may be limited or sidelined.

But there is still plenty worth watching. One of the parts is Michigan's new offensive and defensive setups. On offense, coordinator Jason Beck is expected to keep the run game strong while keeping the passing attack active.

Defensively, Jay Hill is aiming to restore a 2023-style unit for the Michigan Wolverines football, one built on disguises and versatility. This spring game offers fans a first glimpse at both systems.

The addition of running back Savion Hiter can bring a great impact on their game. Other newcomers like Salesi Moa and Travis Johnson at wide receiver are worth watching as well.

At quarterback, Tommy Carr may get extended time, offering an early glimpse into the future of the position.

With a busy schedule, what do you think of Michigan's heartfelt gesture? Let us know your opinions in the comments!
