Michigan Royalty Charles Woodson Jr. Predicted to make “huge jump” per Wolverines Analyst

Charles Woodson Jr. is heading to Ann Arbor. The legacy recruit committed to Michigan on May 15 and is already predicted to take a massive leap in his senior season.

In a video, Sports Talk Wolverines analyst weighed in on the recent development and discussed how he would affect the team.

“Michigan football has landed royalty, and it is none other than the son of Charles Woodson, the arguably greatest Michigan football player in team history,” he said. “He took a huge jump from his sophomore year to his junior year in high school expect a similar jump from junior year to senior year in high school.”

According to USA Today, in his junior year at Lake Nona, Woodson Jr. recorded 73 tackles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery.

He led his school to an 8-4 record and the regional semifinal of the 7A state playoffs in Florida.

Although the defensive back is from Florida, he followed in his father Charles Woodson’s footsteps and is going up north to Ann Arbor. Woodson, also a defensive back and safety, had a stunning run with the Wolverines over 28 years ago.

In 1997, Woodson defeated legendary quarterback Peyton Manning to win the Heisman Trophy and became the first primarily defensive player to do so.

This development has sent the Michigan analyst over the moon, who believes Woodson’s style is similar to his father’s and that “the legacy thing matters.”

“His son is coming to play at Michigan. We know the love and the passion that his dad still has for this program,” he opined. “All right, he has a knack for turnovers and creating havoc. All right, if you see this, and football IQ sounds like his dad.”

According to ESPN, the defensive back received an offer from the Wolverines last summer.

Apart from them, he also had offers from Florida State, Arkansas, Baylor, and Georgia Tech, to name a few programs.

As Woodson Jr. readies himself for the program, the new player has to work on some aspects to meet the high hopes for the season.

Charles Woodson Jr.’s Physical Frame Is A Slight Concern

While discussing his commitment, the Michigan analyst talked about how Charles Woodson Jr. is very similar to his father. He, however, is not built like his father.

“But this could end up being a good safety pickup for you,” he said. “And if he gets time developing in the weight room, right, and he gets to start filling out that body in that frame of his, and he can get himself to about 190 pounds, you could see a really good player when he comes to Michigan.”

Standing approximately at 5’11” and weighing somewhere between 170-175 lbs, Woodson Jr. is currently a consensus three-star safety recruit.

While his performance and potential cannot be ignored, upping his weight class could make him as formidable as his father.

Who knows, maybe Woodson could become the second-ever defensive player to win the Heisman Trophy. Are you excited for his football journey? Share your thoughts in the comments.
