Mike Vrabel’s family dragged into controversy again after son’s arrest

On June 27, the New York Post released an exclusive on Tyler Vrabel, who is charged with reckless driving. According to the report, Tyler, son of Mike Vrabel, head coach of the New England Patriots, was speeding in Tennessee.

“He was allegedly driving his black Ford F-150 truck at 71 mph in a 45 mph zone at around 8:15 a.m., the responding officer wrote in a criminal complaint,” New York Post reported.

According to NYPost, Tyler, 26, was pulled over in Brentwood in Williamson County on May 9. He was then charged with reckless driving, speeding, and driving with an expired registration.

“The truck was speeding past houses and other vehicles recklessly,” Brentwood officer Aaron Yoder said in the affidavit, per New York Post.

According to the report, when Yoder pulled over Tyler, he handed him a registration that had expired in December 2024. Authorities filed charges against him on May 21. Tyler was fined around $1,000 for speeding, including a $250 fee for a “blood alcohol test, records show.”

The case, labeled State of Tennessee vs. Tyler Michael Vrabel, case number 94GSC-2026-TR-4337, is active in Williamson County Criminal Court, Heavy reported. It also revealed that Tyler is owed $992.50 of the $1,000 in assessments.

Tyler’s next hearing is on July 17, 2026, at 9 in the morning. The NYPost report noted that this development occurred weeks after his father was embroiled in a controversy of his own.

Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini, a former insider for The Athletic, were photographed together earlier this year. According to an April 7 Page Six exclusive, the two were “spotted two weekends ago” at a resort in Arizona.

These images show the two off-field “holding hands and hugging at a luxurious hotel” in Sedona.

Tyler is the older of Mike and his wife Jen’s two children. According to the NYPost, the Brentwood Police Department has not made any comment. It is also unclear if Vrabel entered a plea.

Tyler Vrabel’s career so far

In his college career, he played in 35 games and earned All-ACC recognition. The Falcons signed him as an undrafted agent in 2022. He appeared in two games.

Tyler is in his second season at Boston College, his alma mater.

He recently got engaged to Mariah Romano, who shared pictures of their engagement on social media. Vrabel’s parents were in attendance, Heavy reported.
