NFL Analyst Reasons Why Teams Should Look Out For Derrick Moore at the 2026 NFL Draft

As the 2026 NFL Draft approaches, many teams are looking to add some pass rushing defensive presence in their rosters. While there are many talented edge rushers in this year's draft, there is one more who dons the maize and blue.

NFL analyst Lucas Reimink believes edge rusher Derrick Moore is a potential round-two pick in this year's draft. In his Sports Illustrated report, Reimink mostly highlights Moore's strength as his 'competitive edge.'

“His best trait is overall play strength, as he can successfully hold up well against the run by holding his leverage and not giving ground in the run game, as well as being able to use his strength to bull-rush opposing offensive lineman," Reimink wrote.

“His strength is very good for his position, and it will serve him well in the next level,” Reimink concluded.

During his four-year collegiate career with the Wolverines, Moore has recorded 95 total tackles, of which 62 are solo. He also defended eight passes and an impressive 21 sacks with three forced fumbles.

Derrick Moore also received an impressive score on his draft and combine prospect profile, earning 6.30. His Combine report also states the edge pass rusher will eventually be a plus starter in the NFL.

An AFC National scout said, “I like that he knows what he does well as a rusher and capitalizes on it.”

While several teams need an edge rushing presence on their team, Moore's scouting report would help them influence their decision.

NFL Insider on Derrick Moore's Potential

NFL insider Lance Zierlin shared his Combine report about the edge pass rusher, Derrick Moore. Zierlein compares Moore to the likes of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' linebacker Yaya Diaby.

“Edge prospect with good size and length. Moore is far more active and engaged as a rusher than he is as a run defender. Against the pass, Moore is a bull-rush aficionado, piling up pressures and sacks,” Zierlin wrote.

"He’s strong through the top of the rush but needs to prove he can consistently stress long, well-anchored tackles. If Moore cranks up the fire on all three downs, he can become a good full-time player,” highlighting his strength and potential in the report.

The Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, could be potential suitors for Moore in the second round.

Moore already has a CFP Championship and first-team All Big-Ten honors under his collegiate resume. It's only a matter of time the front offices realize Moore's potential to bolster their defenses.
