Nick Saban Applauds Wife Miss Terry Over Noble Initiative: Phenomenal Job

The 7x National Championship winner, Nick Saban, was back on the golf course for a noble cause. As his wife, Miss Terry, has been a rock of support for the past 54 years, the former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach gave the credit to his wife as the couple hosted the 20th annual Nick's Kids Foundation.

The event took place at the Old Overton Club in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, on May 19. Speaking of the moment, Saban took it on himself to thank his wife, Terry Saban.

"I tell you what, Miss Terry, Katie, and the people who have worked with her did a phenomenal job," said Saban when asked about his thoughts on their noble cause continuing for two decades. "And I also think it speaks of the compassion that the people in the state of Alabama have to help other people."

The Nick Saban Foundation was founded in 1998 by Nick and Terry Saban. It supports children, families, and educational initiatives in Alabama. It has funded Habitat for Humanity homes for families in need.

The foundation has supported a children’s learning center in Tuscaloosa, along with helping out with multiple other social causes. Last year, at the 19th annual Nick’s Kids Foundation Giveaway Luncheon, Nick and Terry Saban donated $775,000 to nonprofit organizations statewide.

Saban's football family, too, turned up in numbers to support him.

Saban Acknowledges Former Student Derrick Henry For Supporting The Cause

It has been two years since Saban retired from the head coaching role at Alabama in January, 2024. Years later, the players he once coached attended his noble initiative, including Derrick Henry.

“I think an unintended consequence of this is we have a lot of players who have foundations now because they had the experience of giving back and helping Nick’s Kids when they were student-athletes," said Saban. "Like Derrick Henry gives a book bag to all the kids that we have at our Nick’s Kids luncheon, the first day of fall camp."

Alabama fans still remember the 2015 season, when Henry won the Heisman Trophy, the Doak Walker Award, and the College Football National Championship. It's been a decade since Henry left Saban's camp to play in the NFL, and now he is the star running back for the Baltimore Ravens.

There were other footballers as well. Mark Ingram was there, and so was  Alabama athletics director Greg Byrne. Quarterback coach Bryan Ellis and defensive coordinator Kane Wommack were also present.

Saban also thanked the University of Alabama for making the event a grand success.

"If it wasn't for the University of Alabama and the football program, we couldn't do it," Saban said.

Saban has truly succeeded in all the roles he has taken on. Although he retired as a head coach, he and his wife remain committed to supporting those in need.
