No. 1 Recruit Jett Harrison Told by Brother “Not To Go to Ohio State”

Five-star WR recruit Jett Harrison, son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison Sr., has built a reputation for himself, collecting nearly 20 offers from colleges.

The St. Joseph's Prep student athlete is the No. 1 prospect in the 2028 Rivals300 and hasn't made his college decision yet. His elder brother, Marvin Jr., was a standout WR at Ohio State, and so it was expected of him to follow his brother. But it is not that simple.

"My brother told me not to go to Ohio State just because he went there," said Harrison, "Be yourself and go where you can see yourself. If I go to Ohio State, it won’t be because of him. This decision will be about what I feel is best for me."

The advice came from his older brother Marvin Harrison Jr., who encouraged Jett to make a decision based on his own goals rather than family history at Ohio State.

An Ohio State Buckeyes helmet sits on the sideline prior to the NCAA football game against the Indiana Hoosiers at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024.

Harrison's older brother Marvin Jr. had a spectacular career at Ohio. In his three seasons with the Buckeyes, he played 38 games. He made 2,613 yards, 155 receptions, and 31 touchdowns.

He finished his spectacular collegiate career as a two-time All-American and finished fourth in the Heisman trophy voting.

Naturally, the Arizona Cardinals WR wants his brother to create his own identity. Yet from the first impression, Jett did like what he saw at Ohio State.

"The culture at Ohio State stands out," said Jett, "There is a brotherhood in that program, and I like that. The energy around the coaches is something else that stood out this spring. My relationship is great with Coach Hankton, too."

That advice appears to be shaping Harrison's recruiting process. Rather than following the same path as his brother, he is evaluating multiple programs before making a decision.

Jett Harrison Weighing His Options Before Final Decision

Jett Harrison visited Oregon and Miami during his recent visit, and that also impressed him immensely

"I liked both visits. It was my first time at both schools," said Harrison, "My time at Oregon was great, and I liked the facilities, the people, and how they competed at practice. Dan Lanning was teaching everyone. Coach Ross Douglass was great, too."

He is the No. 1 recruit in the early rankings for the 2028 cycle; if he chooses to tread a different path, the Oregon Ducks might be the place for him. Oregon is checking all the right boxes so far. Moreover, it has also impressed his father Marvin.

“I can tell you it’s two things," said Marvin to Rivals, "There’s a difference between offering a scholarship and recruiting a kid, and they’re heavily recruiting the kid."

Miami isn't slacking behind either. The program is also making the wideout think about his choices.

"I like how Coach (Mario) Cristobal treats his players at Miami. It is not just about football, there with him. He created a good culture, and I liked what I saw," said Jett Harrison

Ohio, Oregon, and Miami are leading the fray, but Alabama, Texas A&M, and USC are also not lagging. Jett is simply sitting back and evaluating every college based on his rapport with every coach and personal growth.

Since there is still a lot of time in hand, Jett doesn't want to rush things. So colleges will have to wait till he has an answer ready.
