Notre Dame Sees Another Defeat As Michigan Lands Four-Star Talent
Michigan Wolverines are strengthening their team ahead of the college football season. After adding big names like wide receiver Quentin Burrell, four-star talent Xavier Muhammad has signed up with the Maize and Blue for his collegiate career.
The 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive end has chosen Michigan for 2027. His committment means the Wolverines have got another recruitment victory over Notre Dame. Burrell was the last one that garnered interest from the Fighting Irish.
Hailing from South Houston High in Texas, Muhammad announced his decision to Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals. He even shared his decision enthusiastically with a “let's go bleed blue” message to Fawcett.

Michigan have now got themselves the nation's eight overall defensive lineman. He is also the 12th overall ranked player from Texas.
Within a matter of a day, the Wolverines nabbed two rated players from Notre Dame's grasp. Michigan added Burrell on May 13, 2026, and Muhammad on May 14, 2026. These signings have now given Michigan nine total recruits for the 2027 class.
Michigan now have two very decorated athletes in Burrell and Muhammad in their squad. However, Michigan isn't just solidifying the 2027 roster but the 2028 roster too is getting consideration.
Michigan Sets Sights On Fifth Overall Ranked National Prospect
The Wolverines are going a step further to get their 2028 calendar sorted out as well. This time around they are focusing on the 2028 offensive line recruit. Antjuan Wilkes is the player on their radar for their 2028 roster.
The offensive tackle is ranked fifth overall in the nation as a high school recruit. According to Rivals, Wilkes is a 6'5" who can really shine for an SEC or Big Ten program, as Michigan being one of the big names of the Big Ten Conference.
Wilkes also has a connection with the Ohio State Buckeyes, as he grew up supporting the program. Therefore, there is competition awaiting Michigan for Wilkes' committment.
Rivals noted Georgia and Tennessee as two SEC schools that are involved in the race for Wilkes. Rivals insiders are also looking at Michigan State as another potential rival for the Wolverines. The Spartans are believed to be running a close second for Wilkes.
Only three of Rivals' Top 100 2028 players have made a collegiate commitment. Two among them have chosen to go with Ohio State while the other went with Georgia.
So far, Michigan have acquired the services of Jakari Lipsey. The four-star 2027 tackle commit has already signed up with the Wolverines. Adding another one would only make the team stronger for their long-term program.
It is still unclear where Wilkes is headed for his collegiate career but Michigan and Ohio State seem to the prime contenders for Wilkes.
