Outkick Founder Clay Travis Announces Exit After 15-Year Run
The story of OutKick The Coverage, born in 2011 as a passion project by Clay Travis, is entering a new phase. The founder announced his departure amid its integration into Fox News Digital.
On June 8, he took to social media to officially wrap up his more than a decade-long journey with a heartfelt post.
“15 years ago I launched @outkick. May 2026 was our biggest month ever, 21 million uniques. Today I’m leaving. Awesome ride. Thanks to all. Final show this afternoon. I’ll be continuing with @clayandbuck, @FoxNews & @FOXSports,” he wrote on X.
As reported by Awful Announcing, Travis sold the conservative sports and culture website OutKick to Fox News Media five years ago.
His decision is already making the fans wonder what’s next for him.
“Details on new company soon,” Travis wrote on X.
According to sources, OutKick has become a vertical within FOX News Digital. After the migration, OutKick achieved its highest monthly performance ever in May 2026, drawing 21 million unique devices (a 34% jump from April).
At the same time, it exceeded 164 million page views, which rose 127% month over month, per Adobe Analytics.
The news release notes that OutKick now engages tens of millions of monthly consumers through a mix of radio, podcasts, social platforms, and video livestreams.
The platform has also secured Dan Dakich, host of Don’t @ Me, on a new multiyear exclusive agreement after he left Cumulus Media’s WXNT Indianapolis program.
Meanwhile, attention turns to what Travis’s next step might be.
Clay Travis Remains a Key Voice Across Fox News and Radio
Despite the transition, Travis will remain tied to Fox News through a multiyear contributor agreement. He will keep hosting OutKick the Show with Clay Travis on FS1 every Wednesday night.
Travis also co-hosts The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show with Buck Sexton. It is a daily political radio program that replaced Rush Limbaugh’s long-running midday slot after his passing in 2021.
The OutKick founder may also have another media venture in mind alongside his Fox News duties. Last year, Semafor’s Max Tani noted that Travis was “weighing whether to launch a new media company should he and Fox decide to part ways.”
“I’m a complete and total free agent, which I haven’t been for a very long time — 20 years, I think,” Travis told Barrett Media in January 2026. “Having said that, lots of good things are coming. I’m working on a lot behind the scenes.”
Travis, a Tennessee enthusiast who built his early career writing about SEC football, has been a familiar guest on Birmingham sports radio and continues to surface on the Next Round Live internet show. The question now is where his experience leads him next.
