Pat McAfee has drawn his line in the sand. The commentator made a surprise return to WWE SmackDown, issuing an ultimatum tied directly to Randy Orton's WrestleMania fate.

McAfee made a bold statement on his personal X account regarding his future in wrestling. After being allied with Randy Orton, McAfee spoke about how he would quit if one thing didn't happen.

“The only “shock” is that @RandyOrton, the greatest Sports Entertainer of all time, isn't running @WWE." The X post read. “That all changes at Mania… When he becomes the 15 TIME WORLD CHAMPION AND SAVES THE BUSINESS for the future generations while doing so. And if he doesn’t… I’ll NEVER BE SEEN OR HEARD IN THE WRESTLING WORLD AHEAD.” ”

Pat McAfee has made it clear that he will not be a part of professional wrestling if Randy Orton does not win his 15th World Title at WrestleMania.

The sports analyst made his first return to the professional wrestling space post his commentary appearance in Wrestlepalzooza in late 2025. As for Randy Orton, he turned heel by attacking Cody Rhodes, and Pat McAfee is ‌advising Randy Orton.

The analyst made a brief but notable return in 2025 behind the mic instead of inside the ring. Framed as a one-night comeback after stepping away from regular WWE commentary in June, the appearance kept him in the mix, with early 2026 reports suggesting a full-time return.

Now, McAfee appeared as ‌Randy Orton’s mystery caller. Allied with Orton and attacked Cody Rhodes. McAfee was the “voice in his head,” and together with Randy Orton, the goal is to save the business.

Pat McAfee Expected to be Involved for Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton

The bout between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton is significant for the WWE because it is a storyline that has lasted about 20 years. The duo shared a mentor-mentee relationship, with Orton helping Rhodes through his early career.

This is a full-circle moment for the two wrestlers and the company as they face off against each other at WrestleMania 42 for the world title.

“Here is almost 20 years of onscreen connection, equity my first match in the company on Monday Night Raw, my dad’s last match, legacy, everything that would take place when I came back in terms of being someone who welcomed me back, to standing in the ring in London with me, thanking me for what I’ve brought to WWE, and hearing that from the guy you need to hear it from,” Cody Rhodes said.

McAfee, too, is expected to be involved in the encounter taking place during Wrestlemania 42

"And all of this boils down to the moment in the night main event of WrestleMania, where I’m looking across the ring at Randy Orton,” He further added.

The roads all lead to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, where WrestleMania 2026 is set to take place with Orton and Rhodes headlining the event.
