Patrick Mahomes Had a Comeback, and he's Scarier Than Before

During a scramble against the Chargers ten months ago, Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes tore two ligaments in his left knee, his ACL and LCL. Mahomes underwent surgery by Dr. Dan Cooper less than one day after his injury (ESPN).

The Opener That Answered Everything

Since Mahomes' scary injury, Chiefs fans wondered how Mahomes would look coming back, especially given that they'd be putting undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson at left tackle in week one against sack leaders (Yahoo Sports). But just nine months after his surgery, Mahomes put the kibosh on any questions about his comeback. In the Chiefs' season opener, Mahomes ran for a touchdown and threw for two in a 31-10 win over the Broncos (ESPN).

4-0 and Sharper Than Ever

Since that dominant opener, the Chiefs have cruised along to wins over the Colts, Dolphins, and Raiders, taking two of those games down to the wire and winning by just three points apiece. His speedy and impressive return proved he can still close out tight games despite his recent ACL tear. In fact, many are saying Mahomes actually came back better than before with a much sharper deep ball (Yahoo Sports).

How was Mahomes able to come back from such a scary injury to potentially be even better than before? Enter Julie Frymyer. Beginning back in January, Chiefs trainer Julie Frymyer had Mahomes going through grueling seven-hour a day sessions at the Chiefs' facility (ESPN). Frymer's tireless work with Mahomes certainly bore fruit on the field this season for the now 4-0 Chiefs.

Full Circle at Arrowhead

After last week's well-deserved bye week, the Chiefs return to action this Sunday against none other than the Chargers in Mahomes' rematch against the team where it all began for him ten months ago. Can the Bolts slow down the now unstoppable Mahomes?
