Rece Davis, Josh Pate send prayers after ESPN analyst undergoes horrifying amputation

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller is recovering after a serious car accident that changed his life in an instant. Miller posted on X on June 23, revealing he was involved in a serious car accident in Missouri on June 17 and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

"As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs. I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm," Miller wrote on X. "While I have a long road ahead, I'm focused on my recovery and taking things one day at a time."

The accident happened around 4 PM in Jasper County, Missouri. Miller's 2023 Ford Bronco crossed the center line and slammed into a semi truck, per NBC News.

Despite everything, Miller made clear he is not done with football.

"I look forward to continuing my recovery and getting back to ESPN to talk football, including what should be an exciting 2027 NFL Draft class," he added in his X post.

That line alone tells you who Matt Miller is. Recovering from losing his arm and his mind is already back on the next draft class. ESPN also released a statement shortly after, per The Hollywood Reporter.

"ESPN's thoughts are with Matt Miller and his loved ones," the network said. "We wish him strength in his recovery and look forward to seeing him back at ESPN when he's ready."

His colleagues in the football world did not stay quiet either. ESPN's Rece Davis responded directly on X, praying for his colleague's recovery.

"Matt, my prayers are with you my friend," Davis wrote.

Davis and Miller are both fixtures in ESPN's college football and NFL coverage. That message from a colleague who knows the grind of this industry hit differently. College football analyst Josh Pate also responded on X, expressing his confidence in Miller's return.

"Praying for you man, comeback of the century set to unfold," Pate wrote.

The football world responded quickly. The heartfelt messages revealed how important Matt Miller is in the world of sports journalism and how much people want to see him back.

Miller Built One of the Most Respected Draft Careers in the Business

Matt Miller walked into ESPN as a draft contributor in 2021. A year later, he was a full analyst covering the NFL year-round. He also makes regular appearances across various ESPN platforms, including NFL Live, SportsCenter, and Get Up!
