Ryan Day’s 5-Star QB Commit Weighs Ohio State Exit After UCLA Visit
Brady Edmunds committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes back in December 2024, but he might flip. The conversation about his decommitment from the Buckeyes has gained momentum after the quarterback’s recent visit to UCLA and his following comments.
“I think at this point in recruiting and in college football, it’s a whole different game,” Edmunds told reporters on June 17. “So you got to look out for yourself in a sense, and that’s kind of what I’m doing. At the end of the day, it’s a business.”
Edmunds, a five-star crowning jewel in head coach Ryan Day’s 2027 class, returned to Columbus, Ohio. He candidly spoke with the media just ahead of another visit this weekend.
It’s turning into one, day by day, and so many rules are changing. So for me to just continue to talk to schools and continue to be a recruit still, is, I think, is key to just protect myself at the end of the day, ” the Huntington Beach QB said.
Although his family is from California, Edmunds was raised in Ohio and grew up rooting for the Buckeyes. He pledged to his favorite program but has been having second thoughts lately.
According to Cleveland.com, Edmunds posted that the UCLA staff visited him on the day the Buckeyes reportedly spoke with Nebraska commit and four-star prospect Trae Taylor.
Earlier in June, Edmunds took a trip to the Bruins as well. The QB has around two days to spend on campus with Ohio’s coaches, and he is going to utilize them to gain clarity.
Brady Edmunds Shares What He Will Talk To HC Ryan Day About
On June 17, star quarterback prospect Brady Edmunds revealed what his top priority for the coming days is. Ranked at No.6 by 247 Sports, Edmunds also made a major revelation on a two-QB scenario.
“I got a couple questions I want to ask and everything,” Edmunds said. “Obviously, the whole two quarterback world is a thing at this point, which I have no problem with. I just want to make sure we’re on the same page with everything and how we go about this correctly. And I think it’s been OK so far, so I can make the best decision at the end of the day.”
Ohio’s QB coach, Billy Fessler, is in touch with Edmunds, “who said that he’s not looking to waste anyone’s time,” per the Cleveland.com article.
In his freshman year, he threw for 2,691 passing yards and 24 passing touchdowns and followed it up with an even bigger sophomore year, throwing for 3,222 yards and 36 TDs. As both Ohio and UCLA remain important to Edmunds, choosing one wouldn’t be an easy task.
Yet, he has to pick one. Which program do you think he will choose? Tell us in the comments.
