SEC Quarterback Arrested on Saturday After Allegedly Fleeing the Police
Former five-star recruit Da'Shawn Womack, currently signed with the Auburn Tigers, was recently involved in an incident with the law. Womack was riding his motorcycle at breakneck speed, which caught the law enforcement's attention.
NFL insider Mike Gittens recently shared this news on his Twitter handle. According to Gittens, when Womack was asked to pull over, he chose to flee the scene, leading to his arrest.
Further information about the incident is unavailable at the moment. So far, the program and the head coach have not yet responded to the incident.
Womack joined Auburn in January this year. He had started his college career with LSU back in 2023.
For the Tigers, he played 20 games in his two seasons. Over time, he established himself as a dependable defensive end. His last year proved to be a standout one for him.
In 2025, Womack made a career-high 27 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks. He left the next year after head coach Lane Kiffin's departure and made his way to Auburn.
Working under defensive coordinator DJ Durkin, he started honing his skills. His big physical frame ( 6-foot-5, 265-pound) made it possible to benefit from his speed and power.
Womack's arrest also brought a fresh perspective from a former Tigers linebacker.
Charles Wooten Gives His Verdict On The Matter
Another former Tiger didn't like what he witnessed. The news of the newly added Tiger transfer getting arrested did not sit well with him.
"Cmon now, we supposed to be locked in, not locked up...Hopefully a learning experience for the young man," wrote Wooten on his X handle.
Wooten, who won the Shug Jordan award with Auburn, showed concern over the arrest but also was quick to reprimand the youngster.
Since Auburn has not commented on the matter yet, it's not known whether they will take action considering Womack's alleged actions.
Luckily, no one was hurt during Womack's escape attempt. The Baltimore, Maryland, native will now have to tread carefully or else his promising career could face severe complications.
