The Alabama men’s basketball head coach, Nate Oats, is amidst the controversies yet again. No denying that he is one of the best in the business, but off-court controversies always seem to find the Crimson Tide’s head coach. This time, fans linked him to former Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore.

Nate Oats said during his College Sports on SiriusXM interview that he is now engaged. In 2023, Oats divorced his then-wife, Crystal, with whom he shares three children. He has since moved on and is finding a future in Accetta.

To many, this new pairing is a reminder of Moore's frowned-upon relationship with former Michigan staffer Paige Shiver.

Moore and Shiver began their relationship despite the former being married. The football coach was eventually fired, and he created a massive scandal by arriving at Shiver's house. Moore was eventually arrested.

Alex Accetta is an Alabama graduate and started working for the program before Oats’ arrival. Nate Oats promoted Accetta to Director of Operations in 2021. She has now left the Alabama Basketball program and currently works for the Dallas Mavericks.

The timeline has pushed fans to share their theories.

How Are the Fans Reacting to This?

“What in the unethical, conflict of interest is going on in West Vance? Sounds like Alabama has their own Sherrone Moore," one fan wrote, bringing a direct comparison between the two coaches.

“The math is not mathing. Sounds like Nate Oats cheated on his ex-wife, Crystal w/a member of his Alabama staff, who he has now promoted to a higher position," another wrote.

“Nate Oats proves himself to be a terrible person on a yearly basis,” another user commented. The basketball coach has found himself in a spot multiple times before. He was subjected to a lot of harsh words during the Darius Miller controversy, and for pushing Missouri forward Aidan Shaw towards his bench in 2024.

“Absolutely NO ONE is surprised the man lacks any semblance of character. No one.” another fan wrote. "Yeah, this checks out for this dude," a simialr comment read.

Another fan wrote, “In the wrong place at the wrong time, maybe? (clown emoji),” referring to the time Brandon Miller was carrying a firearm in a police investigation. Oats echoed nearly the same words as the fan, and had revealed Miller's involvement in the Darius Miles case before it was known to the public.

Had it not been for this new relationship, Oats might have never otherwise thought of finding himself in the same boat as Sherrone Moore, who has quite the allegations against him.
