Tip of An Iceberg: Paul Finebaum Cries NCAA Failure After Brendan Sorsby Saga

The fallout from Brendan Sorsby’s g******* saga has gone beyond one player, highlighting a major issue within the league.

ESPN’s Paul Finebaum called it the “tip of an iceberg” on the ESPN morning show Get Up. He raised concerns about the NCAA's loss of control over the players and highlighted a Wild West environment in the college ranks.

His reporting has sparked a wave of doubts regarding the NCAA's g******* compliance policies.

The 22-year-old Brendan Sorsby is a quarterback who was supposed to lead the Cincinnati Bearcats. However, he has instead become the poster child for the NCAA’s g******* nightmare.

Brendan Sorsby was involved in online b****** activity, which is a violation of NCAA anti-g******* policies. As per ESPN reports, this triggered scrutiny of the NCAA that raised immediate concerns about player activity and the enforcement gaps that the NCAA has in its system.

To emphasize the consequences of the b****** situation within the collegiate ranks, Paul Finebaum recalled an incident. He described how a former Alabama baseball coach, Brad Bohannon, was fired over his involvement in a similar issue.

He explained how the coach in question had provided insider information to a bettor who placed a $15,000+ bet using information about a player’s injury.

“This is a story that a lot of people have been waiting to happen. It was a couple of years ago that the head baseball coach at Alabama bet on games.”

According to Finebaum, this is not the first incident. He highlighted that the majority of the NCAA players are involved in b****** platforms.

“I called Danny Sheridan last night, the well-known sports handicapping expert. He told me 75% of male college students bet on sports, and more than 25%, according to his research, are athletes.”

This further reinforces his claim about the g******* epidemic among collegiate athletes. It points to a much bigger issue involving NCAA policies and consequences, one that goes beyond just Sorsby's case.

Paul Finebaum Weighs in on Brendan Sorsby g******* Situation

Brendan Sorsby was caught g******* based on the data provided by a compliance-driven app called ProhiBet, as per reports by USA Today.

Per NCAA rules, every athlete at the university is required to download and install the app on their device. This notifies the universities about attempts to sign up for b****** platforms or place prohibited wagers.

According to ESPN, the Cincinnati Athletic Association was given prior information about the g******* problem from which the QB was suffering from.

“Cincinnati Athletics has no comment at this time,”  said Senior associate athletic director Zach Stipe, when he was contacted by USA Today Sports on Monday.

The officials are not making any comment on the accusations against the athlete. But according to ESPN, Sorsby made "thousands" of dollars over the online b****** platform.

Two people told the USA Today that Sorsby started g******* in 2022, starting with $1 bets and moving their way up.

Now the Cincinnati Athletic Association is asking for the $1M reparation for transferring Sorsby.
