ESPN's Daniel Hager's list shows confidence in Indiana's ability to stay among the nation's top after its historic championship run. Oregon is next, thanks to its roster led by quarterback Dante Moore, while USC enters an important season under Lincoln Riley.

Indiana is expected to finish 10-2 (7-2)after defeats at Michigan and Washington and wins at  North Texas, Howard, Western Kentucky, Northwestern, Ohio State, at Rutgers, at Nebraska, Minnesota, USC, and Purdue, as per CBS Sports.

Oregon will finish 11-1 (8-1 Big Ten) with its regular-season defeat coming at Ohio State before winning the rematch in the Big Ten Championship game, Boise State, at Oklahoma State, Portland State, at USC, UCLA, Nebraska, at Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan, at Michigan State, and Washington.

While Ohio State is predicted to go 10-2(8-2), losing against Texas and Indiana, and winning at Ball State, Kent State, Illinois, at Iowa, Maryland, at USC, Oregon, Northwestern, at Nebraska, and Michigan.

USC is predicted to go 9-3(6-3) with losses to Oregon, Ohio State, and Indiana, but will remain in College Football contention because of its schedule.

Penn State is also predicted to finish 9-3(6-3) in Matt Campbell's debut, falling to USC, Michigan, and Washington, and winning at Marshall, at Temple, Buffalo, Wisconsin, at Northwestern, Purdue, Minnesota, Rutgers, and at Maryland

If these predictions come true, Oregon would win the Big Ten title, with Ohio State, Indiana, and USC competing for CFP spots. As the Big Ten's top contenders continue to chase conference supremacy, Michigan enters 2026 with a different goal.

Michigan Wolverines eye new era as ESPN predicts program reset in 2026

The Wolverines finished the 2025 season with a 9-4 record. After years, the focus has now shifted to rebuilding trust, consistency, and long-term success.

"The 2026 season will mark a turning of the page for the Michigan football program, as it looks to wipe away the stigma of the controversy-riddled past few years," wrote Daniel Hager of ESPN.

According to Hager, Michigan is placed in sixth position. The outlook shows positivity as a new era begins under veteran HC Kyle Whittingham, who comes after a 21-year run at Utah with a 177-88 record.

His arrival is more than just a coaching change. Michigan is looking for stability and accountability while adding talent on the roster. The Wolverines still have one of the Big Ten's strongest recruiting sources, giving fans a hope to believe.
