U-M regent spills timeline on the release of law firm’s Sherrone Moore findings
With Sherrone Moore's situation still casting a shadow over Michigan, the bigger question now is whether university leaders knew about Moore's relationship earlier than they acknowledged. While the findings remain to be released, a possible timeline has emerged.
The matter was handled behind closed doors, and the question has been whether the findings of the outside investigation will ever be made public. Now, UM Regent Paul Brown has addressed what the timeline would be for such a reveal.
“There are two aspects to it. There are the findings and the what should we do," Brown said as per Mlive. "If there are, which there are, improvements to be made, the findings and the steps that should be taken should be made public.”

Michigan has so far kept the findings under wraps. A university spokesperson previously said the investigation conducted by Chicago-based law firm Jenner & Block would remain confidential under attorney-client privilege, despite the school spending nearly $12 million on the probe.
That stance, however, may not hold for long. After Michigan regents received an oral briefing on the investigation, Regent Mark Brown told MLive the university will eventually make the findings public, setting up another major twist in the Sherrone Moore saga.
"Once regents receive a written version of the report, at least part of it will be released publicly, Brown said," The MLive report by Sam Jane further stated.
With the Sherrone Moore investigation still hanging over Ann Arbor, scrutiny around Michigan's athletic department has only intensified.
Under athletic director Warde Manuel, the program has weathered a string of high-profile situations, investigations, and staff departures.
Regent Paul Brown also noted that investigators found no major "smoking gun" involving Manuel, but did identify a series of missteps that helped create what he described as a "disaster" within the athletic department.
The situation has also opened the floor to further speculation about whether the athletic director had any prior knowledge. This week, another report has addressed this matter.
Did Michigan Athletic Director know about the Moore-Paige relationship beforehand?
A new Wall Street Journal investigation claims athletic director Warde Manuel and other university officials were warned multiple times about former head coach Sherrone Moore's relationship with Paige Shiver.
This knowledge was reportedly obtained months before his December dismissal, challenging the university's claim that it acted only after uncovering new misconduct.
The report draws from the findings of Jenner & Block, the law firm hired by Michigan to investigate the athletic department.
According to the Wall Street Journal, investigators concluded the university's response to the allegations fell short and found confusion over who was actually responsible for handling reports of misconduct within the department.
According to the Wall Street Journal, athletic director Warde Manuel confronted Moore about his relationship with Paige Shiver just two days before the Wolverines opened the 2024 season.
“I told him I didn’t remember if we had already discussed, but that she couldn’t accompany him on trips,” Manuel reportedly wrote in a previously unreported note on Aug. 29, 2024, handwritten on Michigan letterhead, per the WSJ report.
The written report could finally answer the questions that have lingered around Michigan for months. Until then, the Sherrone Moore saga remains far from over, and every new revelation is only turning up the heat on the Wolverines' leadership.
