Update on Diego Pavia’s Football Career Amid Ravens’ Minicamp

Heisman finalist Diego Pavia went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft. Following this, he accepted an invitation to the Baltimore Ravens rookie camp as a tryout. And on Tuesday, he signed a three-year UDFA contract with the Ravens, officially becoming a full team member, according to Adam Schefter.

Alternative leagues remain an option if Pavia fails to make the final roster after training camp. There is still the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the United Football League (UFL) as an option.

Recently, Pavia's talents were noticed by the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers, as he is on their negotiation list. But this is not the first time; Winnipeg even had him on their negotiation list back in 2024.

Winnipeg's spokesperson had even told Canadian media house  3DownNation that they’re unaware of whether or not the team has been in contact with Pavia’s agent (Malki Kawa), who declined their request for comment.

Even the UFL's name was doing the rounds. UFL owner Mike Repole says that he would sign Diego Pavia, as he posted on X.

Repole wrote, "Players like Pavia? No-brainer for [the UFL]. I’d sign him tomorrow and start him this weekend."

In his career, Pavia has been an All-American and SEC Offensive Player of the Year, and he won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award because of throwing 29 touchdown passes.

However, the question looms as to what was the reason for the player of Pavia's potential not being drafted.

Why Did Diego Pavia Go Undrafted?

ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and other analysts attributed it to his physical measurements (height and arm length) that came in the way of things. Pavia measured just 5’10 1/8 at the NFL Combine. This made him among the shortest QB prospects to come into the draft. He was tied with Bryce Young and Kyler Murray.

Moreover, his outspoken nature and statements also did not help his cause.

During the 2026 Combine, he joked that his brain wouldn’t develop fully until another year passed. Although the comment was meant to be humorous in regard to his potential, it was seen by some organizations as immature or lacking self-awareness.

His talent will likely find a home regardless of his ultimate status with the Ravens. Given that the CFL and UFL are already backing him through social media.
