Winningest College Football HC Suffers 3 Major Blows Over Fortnight

If you are a Georgia Bulldogs fan, this is surely not welcome news. Within a fortnight, the Georgia Bulldogs have lost out on three players, as they decommitted ahead of the 2026 season.

Four-star cornerback Jerry Outhouse Jr, three-star wide receiver Aden Starling, and five-star cornerback Donte Wright (Long Beach, CA) have all decided not to commit.

It has caused a huge instability in head coach Kirby Smart's camp. Coach Kirby is one of the most successful coaches in Georgia's history.

He has won multiple national championships in 2021 and 2022 respectively. His career record also surpasses legendary Georgia coach Vince Dooley.

However, this isn't the first recruitment setback for Smart. The Bulldogs' year started off with lineman Kyson Mallard and receiver Gavin Honore staying uncommitted.

Outhouse and Wright have already made their picks. The former chose UCLA while the latter went for Miami.

However, the likes of five-star RB Kemon Spell and four-star tight end Jaxon Dollar is reassuring. The fact that promising recruits are choosing to go elsewhere has become a concern for the Bulldogs.

The same happened with Andrew Beard. The four-star RB recruit also committed to Florida. Meanwhile, the reason for Donte Wright's refusal to enlist with Georgia has come to the fore.

Wright Gives His Side Of The Story

Donte Wright recently shared why he chose to align himself with Miami over Georgia. He took to X to tell his version of the incident.

"There are a lot of people who are going to say I took the bag or whatever. If I’m being real with you, I could’ve gone somewhere else and taken a way crazier bag and surprised everyone," Wright said in his defense.

This didn't help his cause, as the fans had already made up their minds. The vast consensus was Wright was chasing a large NIL deal that the Hurricanes must've been offering him.

According to Dawn of the Dawg's report, it feels that Wright chose Miami because of the money offered.

This is also against Kirby Smart's ideology. Smart has always believed that people who come to join the Bulldogs enjoy being here.

Coincidentally, Georgia won two National Championships immediately after NIL deals became legal. They also won SEC titles along the way.

Despite young recruits decommitting from the long-term Bulldogs program, Smart and the coaching staff are looking to put these concerns to rest in the upcoming season.
